Technical Information/Specification Charts

for Air Cooled Volkswagens.

Use the Chassis/Engine # to find out what year Air Cooled engine case you just discovered in a friend's garage.

If you need to know what size engine was in what year or type of Air Cooled Volkswagen?, or the horse power, piston diameter, bore diameter and (cc) displacement of an engine, refer to Engine App./Size.

The Engine Type lists details like whether the Volkswagen Type 1,  Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter, Volkswagen Type 3 Fast Back/Square Back or Volkswagen Type 4 411/412 Station Wagon or Sedan was fuel injected or carbureted, whether it was originally a single port or dual port, 6 Volt or 12 Volt, etc..

When it comes to determining whether an Air Cooled Volkswagen Type 1 engine case has been align bored or the thrust has been cut by how much, refer to Crankshaft Spec.  You can learn how to measure your crankshaft and a bearing shell to determine the undersize of a crankshaft and the oversize of the case and learn if the thrust has been cut and, if so, by how much.

If you need to know how many times to "jump up and down" on the "cheater bar" when you are tightening the rear axle/brake drum nut on your Air Cooled Volkswagen Type 1?, fret no longer.  Refer to the Torque Specs. table to find that really big number along with many other torque specifications.
